THE PROJECT IMÀGO DUO
The project was launched in 2013 and has been growing steadily since then.
Mélanie is a singer, composer, dancer and director. Carlo Maria is a musician and composer and bases his research on the art of improvisation as an authentic search for the self.
In a magical dimension, this unusual combination of folk song and improvisation characterizes this particular duo. The Imàgo Duo project was born from the union of these two forces, blending echoes of jazz and even older music with contemporary experiences and sounds. Overlapping voices, candlelight dances, percussion and sounds that seem to come from afar lead to a dreamlike journey, enveloping the audience in a dreamlike atmosphere reminiscent of a religious rite.
Pianist and composer in constant search of improvisation, ranging from classical teaching to jazz and free improvisation. Despite his participation in numerous national and international festivals and the recent album for Unit Records "Syria" with his Norwegian trio, Nartoni has found his most authentic and original dimension in the solo and duo piano performances of recent years. His free improvisations make each concert a unique event that can reach a magical and ritual dimension. In the Duo Imàgo, the performances offer a new face, both imaginative and playful, in which, in addition to the piano, different types of drums, guitars, electronic effects and voices are presented.
Melanie Häner is a singer, composer and director. She graduated in the history of theater in Bologna and then studied musical theater in Hamburg, where she specialized in modern dance. She has worked in the field of musicals and show business in Germany and has toured in the main German cities. At that time she started writing songs. Back in Switzerland, she worked as a director and singer and as a presenter for the Radio Suisse Italienne (RSI).
In recent years, her work has been particularly focused on the development of the Imàgo Duo project.
IL PROGETTO IMÀGO DUO
La cantante e cantautrice svizzera Melanie Häner incontra nel 2013 il pianista e compositore Carlo Maria Nartoni. Nasce un insolito ed esplosivo sodalizio dal quale scaturisce il progetto musicale "Imàgo Duo".
"In una dimensione magica, l’insolita unione tra canzone popolare e improvvisazione caratterizza questo particolare Duo. Il connubio tra queste due forze ha dato vita al progetto Imàgo Duo, dove echi di jazz e ancor più di musiche antiche si fondono con sperimentazione e contemporaneità. Voci sovrapposte, danze a lume di candela, percussioni e suoni che sembrano arrivare da lontano, portano in un viaggio onirico che avvolge il pubblico in un' atmosfera che rimanda al Rito."
Assistere a un loro concerto è un po’ come ascoltare una storia raccontata sottovoce, come sbirciare dal buco della serratura qualcosa che ha il sapore di un piccolo segreto, una piccola confessione. Un pezzo di vita raccontata in musica e in poesia. La proposta del duo, oltre ai brani originali, comprende a volte anche una personale interpretazione di autori di epoche e stili diversi come Leonard Cohen, Fabrizio De André, o brani del 1500 di John Dowland.
Melanie Häner è cantante e cantautrice. Proviene dal mondo del Musical, ha partecipato a diversi shows in Germania in qualità di cantate, attrice e ballerina. Scrive canzoni dal 2008 e negli ultimi anni la sua attività artistica si è concentrata quasi esclusivamente sul progetto Imàgo Duo. Danzatrice nell'anima, quando lo spazio scenico è sufficiente, la voce si trasforma in danza.
Carlo Maria Nartoni è pianista e compositore in costante ricerca attraverso l’improvvisazione, parte da una formazione classica per poi approdare al jazz e infine all’improvvisazione libera. Nonostante la partecipazione a numerosi festival nazionali e internazionali e il recente album per la Unit Records “Syria” col suo Norwegian Trio, Nartoni ha trovato negli ultimi anni nelle performances per piano solo e in duo la sua dimensione più autentica e originale. Le sue improvvisazioni libere rendono qualsiasi concerto un evento unico, capace di raggiungere una dimensione dal sapore magico e rituale. Nel progetto Imàgo Duo mostra un volto nuovo, fantasioso e giocoso, dove oltre al pianoforte utilizza percussioni di vario tipo, chitarra, effetti elettronici e voce.
DAS PROJEKT IMÀGO DUO
Zwei verschiedene Seelen, die 2013 zusammentreffen und danach eine einzigartige, explosive künstlerische Symbiose finden. So entsteht das Projekt Imàgo Duo.
Selbstkomponierte Musik, teils improvisiert, begleitet mit choreografischen Momenten prägen Ihre Performances, die immer zu einem einzigartigen Erlebnis werden. Auch wenn es sich um eigene Stücke handelt, ist Songwriter nicht der richtige Ausdruck für ihre Musik, denn die Improvisation gibt ihr jedes Mal einen neuen Charakter und die lyrische, feinfühlige Stimme entführt den Zuhörer in poetische Traumwelten.
Bei ihren Konzerten fühlt es sich an, als würde jemand eine geheimnisvolle Geschichte flüsternd erzählen und als könne man, durch das Türschloss spähend, kleine, wichtige Geheimnisse erfahren - ein Stück Leben, welches durch Musik und Poesie tief ins Innere dringt.
Das Repertoire des Duos enthält außer der selbstkomponierten Musik auch Interpretationen der Lieder von Leonard Cohen, Fabrizio de André und anderen.
Melanie Häner ist eine Sängerin, Songwriterin und Choreografin. Sie hat einen Studienabschluss in Geschichte und Theaterwissenschaften. Nach ihrem Studium in Bologna besuchte sie die Stage School in Hamburg, wo sie sich drei Jahre lang komplett dem Musical widmete und sich auf modernenTanz spezialisierte. Nach der Ausbildung tourte sie als Schauspielerin, Sängerin und Tänzerin mit dem Musical "Der kleine Medicus" von Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer durch viele deutsche Großstädte. Nach ihrer Rückkehr ins Tessin leitete sie als Regisseurin und Choreografin ein Musical in der italienischen Schweiz und arbeitete als Redakteurin, Animatorin, Moderatorin beim Radio-TV-Sender . Seither widmet sich voll dem Projekt Imàgo Duo.
Carlo Maria Nartoni ist ein Pianist und Komponist in ständiger Forschung durch Improvisation, er beginnt mit einer klassischen Ausbildung und geht dann zum Jazz und schließlich zur freien Improvisation über. Trotz seiner Teilnahme an zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Festivals und dem kürzlich erschienenen Album für Unit Records Syria" mit seinem Norwegian Trio hat Nartoni in den letzten Jahren seine authentischste und originellste Dimension in Auftritten für Solo-Piano und Duo gefunden. Seine freien Improvisationen machen jedes Konzert zu einem einzigartigen Ereignis, das eine Dimension von Magie und Ritual erreichen kann. Im Projekt Imàgo Duo zeigt er ein neues Gesicht, phantasievoll und spielerisch, wo er neben dem Klavier verschiedene Arten von Perkussion, Gitarre, elektronische Effekte und Stimme einsetzt.
